2013 starts with a bang at the 11foot8 bridge

Three days into the New Year, the 11foot8 bridge caught another overheight boxtruck. A natonal tire retail chain had rented the white Penske truck and the driver was not from the area and not familiar with the 11foot8 bridge. However, as far as I know, the signs indicating overhead clearance limitations are pretty much the same in all 50 states.

  1. A lot of these drivers in these box trucks don’t need a CDL. so they have no idea about Height restrictions. This happens a lot in the cities.. Ryder Penske rents these trucks to any one with money.. They don’t care if they are trained or not..

  2. There no excuse for these trucks hitting this bridge. There is signs and yes blinking lights on this bridge. Every box truck I rented has the truck height mark in the cab on the dash and on the side. this bridge is well mark with signs and there is other ways around that bridge. By the way I love watching these videos so you truck drivers that hitting that bridge I guess all I can say to you keep up the good work LOL.

I live near Ely in Cambridgeshire, UK, and we have a 9ft double underpass. Yes, 9ft. It is the most hit railway bridge in the UK, if not the world. 50 times a year is the estimate. It tends to catch hired vans, farmers towing unusual trailers, tourists in camper-vans etc.. The police now treat these incidents as careless driving (you get fined and some penalty points on your license) Googlemap over to Ely Cambridgeshire UK and have a look at it. Keep up the good work
